the rule
We don’t allow AI.
None. Anywhere.
No generated images. No AI reference photos. No AI color studies. No AI-traced sketches. Not in the final work, not in the process, not anywhere upstream of the piece you’re looking at.
what counts
The rule, plainly stated.
When you see a piece on Framed, a verified human made it from start to finish. They held the brush, shaped the clay, dragged the pencil. Every mark on the canvas was their decision and their hand.
That means we don’t allow:
- ·Images generated by Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, or any other generator
- ·AI-assisted compositions, even when hand-painted on top
- ·AI-generated reference imagery the artist worked from
- ·AI-traced sketches, color studies, or composition plans
- ·Pieces made primarily by AI then signed off by a human
We don’t care if it looks human. We care if it was human. The line is bright and the line stays bright.
how we enforce
Two layers, every artist.
Stage 1: portfolio review.Every artist applying to sell submits links to their existing work and a short statement about their practice. We review by hand for consistency, technique, and craft signals AI generators haven’t learned to fake.
Stage 2: selfie-with-work.Approved artists upload a photo of themselves holding one of their listed pieces in their studio. The selfie has to match the work, the hands, and the environment. It’s the simplest, hardest-to-fake verification we can ask for.
On top of that, ongoing audits, peer reports, and a public dispute process. Anyone can flag a piece they believe is AI-generated; we investigate; we act.
what happens if you break it
One warning. Then you’re out.
First detected violation: warning + listing removal + a 30-day probation. Funds from any in-flight sale go through a manual review hold and may be refunded to the buyer.
Second violation: account permanent ban. Lifetime payout forfeiture on any unresolved sales. Public note on the artist profile (now archived) explaining the violation.
We don’t enjoy this. We’d rather every artist on Framed thrived. But the rule has to be the rule.
why we’re strict
For the artists.
AI is flooding every other art platform with infinite indistinguishable images that undercut every working artist’s prices, drown their reach in feeds, and erode buyer trust in originality.
A bright line lets indie artists charge what their work is worth, without competing against the machine. It lets them tell buyers, simply: I made this. And it lets buyers believe it.
for the buyers
What you see is what was made.
When you collect a piece from Framed, you know — by the verification and the COA — that a real person made it. Not an algorithm. Not a hybrid workflow. A person.
That guarantee isn’t a marketing line. It’s the entire reason this platform exists.
